Agent of Change: Sanctified like Christ

If we want to be the Agents of Change for the Lord Jesus Christ we need to be sanctified like Christ.

John 17:17-18:

Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.

What do we mean by sanctified? Sanctified means “set apart for special use.” A believer is to be different from the world. We need to be different from its values and different from its goals. God’s plan is not to take us out of the world, but to take the world out of us. Through God’s Word, His truth, He sets us apart from the world.

Although the world is a threatening place for us, Jesus does not want us removed from the world. A major reason we are to remain in the world is because he has a purpose for us here. As Jesus departed from the world; His people are to go into the world. In verse 18 it said, I have sent them into the world.

The means of this sanctifying work is God’s truth. The truth is communicated in the Word. As the message about Jesus is heard our minds were captured by the truth. This change in our thinking resulted in a change in our lives. As we change in our lives, we are sanctified—set apart for God. God’s message set us apart from the world so that we would do His will, not ours and not Satan’s.

Jesus is the model for every believer. Jesus was sent into the world on a mission by God. Believers are sent into the world on a mission by Jesus. That mission is to make God known.

If we want to be the Agents of Change for the Lord Jesus Christ we need to be sanctified. Pray that people will see you as different from the world. Pray that you recognize that Jesus has sent you into the world with a mission to spread the gospel message.

Christ is not getting what He ‘paid’ for. We are robbing Him with our watered-down Christian tradtion of ‘take the grace – but not the resurrection.’ We clothe ourselves in His robe of Crucifixion Grace…but we reject ‘regeneration’ by way of fellowship with the risen Lord through the Holy Spirit. And I am the worst of them all….still trying to break free of the powerful stronghold of ‘tradition,’

    Good Post. Thanks.
