Psalm 33:6-9 (NIV)
6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.
7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses.
8 Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him.
9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.
It has been about 2 months now since I have taken any classes in school. Karen and I have gotten to spend a lot of quality time to together. I guess you can say that I have done my 9. As much has I enjoyed the break and had time to write on my blog during the Daniel Fast it is now time to “put iron in the fire.” My next class starts on February 15th. The name of the class is The Book of Genesis. It sounds like a good portion of the class will be on the controversy of Creationism and Evolution. I hope this is the case because I find the the whole subject a decisive component to engaging the post-modern culture. It is said that the lack of faith and/or belief is not an intellectual condition but a heart condition. It is true that we need to give an intellectual answer to what we believe; it is also true that know matter what you believe it takes faith to live it out. My point is that we need to be convincing in our arguments for Creationism but we also need to do it with tact and not be a hindrance to the work of God. Jesus told his dicples “If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town.” (Matthew 10:14, NIV) We are an ambassador for Christ, a mouth piece so to speak. There will be times when we just need to stop the discussion, shake the dust off your feet and move on. “Avoid foolish controversies…..and disputes about the Law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. Reject a factious man after a first and second warning, knowing that such a man is perverted and is sinning, being self-condemned.” (Titus 3:9-11, NASB95) And
“In the presence of God do not wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:14-15, NASB95) Always pray for the unbeliever that he may overcome his unbelief.
Pray “Help (name) overcome their unbelief!” Mark 9:24
